Every figure, with its source

One row per published figure: the figure as the source's own page publishes it, the page, and the day it was read. A figure that is not on a page we read is not on this one.

The sentence each figure was read from (2)

Read in full, publishes no figure

8 named sources were read in full on the dates shown and print no usable figure. They are counted, never filled in.

Methodology

Every row is a verbatim sentence read from the named source's own page through our fetch service on the date shown, hash-pinned to the stored read (the sha of the page's visible text; the raw page is mirrored to R2).

2 of the 10 named sources that could be read published a usable figure; 8 published none and are recorded as not published, never filled in; 0 could not be read (blocked, dead or unreachable) and count nowhere.

The headline figures (median, minimum, maximum, quartiles) are over ONE figure per source in % (a source's median where its page yielded several accepted sentences), so N counts sources, never sentences; 44 candidate sentence(s) were refused by a reviewer with the reason recorded.

The fuller derivation this dataset is chartered to grow into (not yet what the figures above are; they are each source's own published figure as read): the official cost inputs behind every quoted price, joined into one series the trade does not publish: the BLS producer price indices for floor coverings (WPU123), resilient floor coverings (WPU1232) and flooring retailing (WPU58C10101) - material against retail MARGIN, which lets a rise in a shelf price be attributed to one or the other - beside the BLS OEWS wage distribution for floor layers (47-2042) and carpet installers (47-2041) as the labour input, and the ONS construction output price indices with their published weights for the GB side.

The derivation is the DECOMPOSITION: our own index's median restated against these series month by month, so the site can say how much of this year's quoted price is material, how much is labour and how much is margin - and can say whether a seller's price rise tracked its input costs or did not

44 candidate sentences on these pages were refused by a reviewer; each refusal and its reason is recorded in the review ledger.
